Projects

At ACES we prioritise the real-world application of our research. We undertake research, development and demonstration projects that consider social, technical and economic issues relating to energy systems and how they interconnect with people and nature.

Standards and interoperability

Underpinning a robust and secure electricity network is the need for a nationally consistent set of standards and protocols to enable distributed energy resources (DER) to "talk to one another". The ANU is leading the establishment of Australian standards and new testing and certification systems and services= to harmonise DER integration.

Facilities

DERlab

A state-of-the-art testing facility which mirrors the energy grid. The Distributed Energy Resources Laboratory (DERlab) provides the Australian and international research and development community with a fail-safe power system in which to rapidly, efficiently, and securely develop and test the technologies and systems before deploying them.
